How to Play Survive Bikini Bottom

First hour: jelly, hive light, backpack, and the Krabs unlock.

Getting Started

Survive Bikini Bottom is an online Roblox survival experience set in a ruined, licensed Bikini Bottom. You spawn at the Jelly Hive, you catch jellyfish while the fog is thin, and you pour jelly back into the hive so the safe circle stays lit. When the meter hits empty the light dies, the workbench locks, and the Sea Bear treats the camp like open water. This page is the first-hour route for that loop—not a lore recap.

Play with friends if you can. Servers are built for a group, and one player can kite while another opens a chest or walks a resident. Solo is possible, but every escort and every night raid is stricter. The controls page lists keyboard and the backpack pickup rule; come back here for decisions.

Minute-by-minute opening

  1. Do not sprint into fog. The first buildings you see are enough. Catch jellyfish with the starter net and carry blobs home before you sightseeing.
  2. Feed the hive immediately. A half-full meter is how first nights wipe. Top it up whenever you pass camp.
  3. Unlock hive level 2 as soon as the bar allows. That is the Mr. Krabs gate and the start of real crafting. Details sit on the workbench page.
  4. Prioritize backpack space over a second flashlight. Medium packs let you haul jelly and a key in one trip. The Mailman quests are the cleanest early upgrade.
  5. Craft a compass and a treasure map once scraps exist. Guessing Squidward’s direction burns daylight.
  6. Be home before the sky turns. Night is for defense, not for one more chest.

Food and hunger run in parallel with hive light. Starving cuts your health before a mob does. Keep a jelly patty or cooked drop in the bag; some foods rot if you never hold a “keeper” item. Creators call out royal jelly, a hat, and a patty as the three things worth parking in inventory—verify what your current build still treats as a keeper.

Combat you can learn on night one

Every creature telegraphs. Watch the wind-up, step out, then hit. Do not empty a Ketchup Blaster on the first skeleton; ammo is rarer than spatulas, and spatulas drop often in police stations. Melee is fine while you learn patterns. If a Chum Bucket brute appears later, switch to range and kite—the Sea Bear page covers the one enemy you should not try to finish.

Windows are a trap. Ranged shots come through them. Stand deeper in the hive circle, not against glass, when the raid starts.

Classes without spending yet

You can finish the five residents on the free kit. If you already have Doubloons, read best starter before you impulse-buy Camp Scout. Pioneer is the gentle teaching class because the blaster solves early escorts. Doctor is the group pick. GG Rockstar is the late-game spend. The tier list explains why cheap classes fall off after the first upgrades.

First resident, first real test

Hive level 2 reveals Mr. Krabs at the Krusty Krab. Clear the key holder, open the lock, and walk him home in daylight. Night escorts are how early wipes happen. The full order—Squidward, Sandy’s boss form, Patrick’s three keys, SpongeBob’s maze—lives on rescue residents and the checklist tool.

Each successful escort also jumps the day counter. That is not a bug. It is why montages hit Day 100 without 100 bed sleeps. Read Day 100 before you assume you failed the challenge.

Common first-hour mistakes

  • Exploring at night “just to see the map.”
  • Dumping all ketchup ammo into the first raid.
  • Ignoring hive hunger to chase a far chest.
  • Buying Defender walls instead of a backpack.
  • Opening every chest; some are junk and cost time you need for jelly.

If you only remember three rules: feed the hive, craft vision items, escort in daylight. Everything else on this wiki is a refinement of those three.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Can I play Survive Bikini Bottom solo?

Yes, but online squads are safer. The Sea Bear chases one player at a time, and escorts are easier with a kite.

What should I craft first?

Compass and treasure map, then backpack space, then Workbench Tier 3 for the Quickster Pad. See the workbench guide.

When do I fight the Sea Bear?

You do not kill it. Stun it, stay in the hive circle, and run home if the light is dying.
